From Our Principal

Dear SEAS Parents,
Happy Birthday!!!!  That’s right.  We are celebrating our 30th year as the only Catholic school in North Kenner!  As part of our “SEAS family,” I ask you to join us this year as we celebrate who we are and the great things we have accomplished over these past thirty years.
This is my 25th year at St. Elizabeth Ann  Seton, and I am proud to be part of such a wonderful community.  Through the many changes and transitions of our school and parish, the things we all hold dear have remained a constant here at SEAS:  school traditions rooted in our Catholic faith, a caring faculty and staff, supportive parents, and the most wonderful children and young adults.  The accomplishments of our SEAS alum can attest to the foundation they received from this school community. To date we can boast of 19 valedictorians and/or salutatorians and the awarding of numerous high school and college scholarships.  A pretty impressive record for a school that has only realized 21 graduating classes!
I hope you had a relaxing summer with many opportunities to enjoy some family time.  It was wonderful seeing so many of you at our “Get to Know Your SEAS Night” on August 12th.  My thanks to our Home and School Association for sponsoring this event.  As in the past, we are committed to providing your children with the best possible education while at the same time enhancing their spiritual development.  Our main focus is to help our students become the Catholic Christians that God intends them to be.
We have completed our first week of school, and it was just great!  Thanks to all of our parents and students for making everything go smoothly and well!  We are looking forward to seeing you at our  Back to School Nights on August 26 for grades 6 and 7, and on August 27 for grades 1 through 5.  Remember to go straight to your child’s homeroom at 7:00 pm.
Thanks so much to our Home and School for sponsoring the City Park Night on Saturday.  This is such a fun event, and one that the children look forward to every year.
The archdiocesan band program will be beginning soon for our students in grades 4 through 7.  We are delighted to have Mr. Jack Pritchett return to SEAS as our band director.
In an effort to assist you with any long term planning we have posted the school calendar on this website in addition to the copy we sent home with the children.  Obviously, in trying to project activities for the entire year, it may become necessary to make some changes.  There may be periodic additions, such as field trips, academic competitions, sporting events, etc.  Each month you will receive an updated calendar on the back of the Eagle Watch which we send home with your child. You can also download a copy of the Eagle Watch from this website.  This will be our means of communicating the most current dates.
I am excited about the opportunities this school year will present.  We are so blessed here at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School.  I know with the joint support of the parents, school, and parish community, it will be a very memorable and successful year.

Dear SEAS Parents,

Scooby Dooby Do! We all had a great time at the Mutt-i-grees Pack Party last week! The children learned about the wonderful service that animal shelters provide throughout the country, and a donation was made to the Jefferson SPCA in their name. It was exciting to have our school featured on the WWL morning show! Many thanks to all who were involved in this event.

Our SACS accreditation review was a great success. The team members were full of praise for our students, and for the quality education we provide at SEAS! They were particularly impressed with the support that you provide for our students and faculty, and the family atmosphere that is present throughout our school. Thanks so much for all you do! We are truly blessed to be part of such a wonderful community!

Everyone is invited to attend our Living Way of the Cross on Thursday morning at 10:00. This is a solemn and very moving tradition at SEAS in which the students act out the passion and death of Jesus. We would love for you to join us.

Remember that dismissal is at 11:30 on Thursday (11:15 for pre-kindergarten), and there is no PM bus service. We hope you all have a great Easter holiday, and we'll see you back on the 28th!

Mrs. Kathmann
